Cavalier Home Builders of Addison, Alabama, started out in 1984 as a small well-managed company and within three years went public, using the cash infusion from its offering to acquire small, mostly family-owned one-plant operations in the Southeastern tier states. The company over-expanded during the 1990s boom, including an unsuccessful foray into building a network of company-owned dealerships, but managed to down-size by 2002, remaining a stable profitable company. Cavalier builds a full range of models, from single-wides to triples.
