Getting an accurate price for a
home by email or the phone is very difficult. Salesmen do not like to do it. The reasons
vary, but most of the time it boils down to this: I can not sell a home to a person who
does not meet me face-to-face. The best thing a salesman can do with a request for
pricing information is to convert that to a face-to-face meeting. If you as a
potential homebuyer realize that, you will save yourself a lot of trouble.
Try the
following.
Go throughout the floor plans in the Mobile Home Quote database and print out a few you
like.
Look through the options and standard features for some of the homes. Print out a couple
pages of this material and note what you want, and what you don't want.
The two previous steps will identify you as a serious house hunter - the first major
step toward getting a price. Take this information to a local dealership.
When you get to the dealership, provide basic contact information as soon as the
salesman asks for it. He does not need to know your life story - name and phone number is
fine.
At this point the ball is in the salesman's court. You have identified yourself as a
serious buyer and provided contact information. If it takes more than 15 minutes for them
to start quoting approximate prices, find a new dealership.
As an option, look at the list below. The list is provided for our viewers who are new
to manufactured housing and are looking for some ballpark figures. It is not a list of
homes for sale or a substitute for the advice of a competent sales person. It can,
however, begin to align your expectations so you can have more targeted discussions with a
housing professional.
